The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced the Curriculum Framework for Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Classes 3–8. The newly introduced framework aims to integrate emerging technologies, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills into school education starting from the foundational years.

CBSE has launched the 3030 Eklavya – Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Online Series in collaboration with the Centre for Creative Learning (CCL), IIT Gandhinagar. The series will provide educators and learners with activity-based resources, interactive sessions, and innovative approaches to explore concepts related to computational thinking, AI, and STEM education.

Through CT and AI courses, students will be encouraged to learn skills such as logical reasoning, pattern recognition, algorithmic thinking, creativity, and systematic problem-solving. It also seeks to develop an understanding of Artificial Intelligence and its applications in everyday life, enabling students to become informed and responsible users and creators of technology.

Recognising the growing role of technology in shaping the future, CBSE has designed this framework to provide schools with a structured approach for introducing CT and AI concepts through age-appropriate learning experiences. The initiative aligns with the vision of developing 21st-century competencies and preparing students to engage confidently with a rapidly evolving digital world.

Interested students can apply on eklavya.iitgandhinagar.ac.in. Live session will be conducted starting August 15. There will be a total of 8 sessions to be held every Sunday, 4 PM onwards. For teachers of CBSE affiliated schools, it will be counted as 3 CPD Hours per episode against school-based training (provided certificate is earned and the name included in the database of the CCLIIT Gandhinagar). Teachers and students who wish to participate will have to pay Rs 200 for 8 episodes.

NCERT and CBSE are jointly developing a distinctive curriculum that students can read and understand in their mother tongue. Whether it is coding or data analysis, every child in the country will now learn cutting-edge technologies in their own language. The new CBSE syllabus is not only changing the way students study, but is also preparing to upgrade India’s future, the Board had stated earlier.
