Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra has once again grabbed headlines after booking his place in the men’s javelin final at the Commonwealth Games 2026, overcoming challenging windy conditions during the qualification round in Glasgow.

Born on December 24, 1997, in Khandra village in Haryana’s Panipat district, Neeraj completed his early education at a local school in his hometown. He developed an interest in athletics during his teenage years after taking up javelin to improve his fitness.

As his sporting career began to take off, Neeraj focused on balancing academics with rigorous training.

He later pursued higher education at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.

Neeraj’s rise in athletics began at a young age. He first gained international recognition after winning gold at the 2016 World U20 Championships, where he also set a junior world record.

His career reached new heights when he became the first Indian athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Since then, he has added several major titles to his name, including the World Athletics Championships, Asian Games, Diamond League Final and Commonwealth Games.
