IIM Bangalore To Open Indonesia Campus: A Look At IIT And IIM Institutes Abroad
India’s premier educational institutions are steadily expanding their global footprint. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced that the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore will open its first international campus in Indonesia. The move is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages top Indian institutions to establish campuses overseas. IIM Bangalore, Indonesia
IIM Bangalore will set up its first overseas campus in the Singhasari Special Economic Zone in Malang, Indonesia. The campus will initially offer executive education programmes for senior professionals and business leaders. In the next phase, it is expected to introduce full-fledged management degree programmes. The curriculum will focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, global supply chains, climate and sustainability, and healthcare management. IIM Ahmedabad, Dubai
IIM Ahmedabad established its Dubai campus to offer management education to working professionals and global executives. The campus offers a one-year full-time MBA for experienced professionals, along with its flagship General Management Programme for mid- and senior-level executives. IIT Delhi, Abu Dhabi
Opened in September 2024, IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi is the institute’s first international campus. Located in Khalifa City, the campus offers undergraduate programmes in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Energy Engineering. It also offers postgraduate courses in Energy Transition and Sustainability, along with an MSc in Artificial Intelligence developed in partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). IIT Madras, Zanzibar
Launched in 2023, IIT Madras Zanzibar became the first international campus of an IIT. Located in Tanzania, the campus offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering and science. Students from India, Tanzania, Kenya, Nepal, and several other countries study at the campus, which aims to strengthen technical education and research across Africa while promoting academic collaboration between India and the continent.
