Thousands of candidates hoping for a waiting list after the declaration of the Bihar Police Constable Recruitment final result have received disappointing news. The Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC) has officially announced that no waiting list will be released for the recruitment of 19,838 constable posts.
The Board stated that the recruitment process has been completed in accordance with the prescribed rules, and there is no provision for revising the final merit list or issuing any additional selection list. As a result, candidates who were left out of the final selection despite clearing all recruitment stages will not get another opportunity through a waiting list.
Why Were Candidates Demanding a Waiting List?
After the final results were declared, many candidates who had successfully cleared the written examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and other stages found that their names were missing from the final merit list.
Several of these candidates had secured marks equal to those of selected candidates. They submitted a memorandum to the CSBC, requesting the release of a waiting list so that any vacancies arising due to non-joining or cancellation of selected candidates could be filled. They also sought a review of the final merit list.
CSBC Rejects the Demand
Responding to these requests, the Central Selection Board issued a public notice stating that the Bihar Police Constable Recruitment Rules do not provide for the preparation or publication of a waiting list.
The notice, issued by Special Officer Rajkishore Bedi, clarified that the recruitment process was conducted strictly in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures. Therefore, no waiting list can be issued after the completion of the recruitment process, regardless of any candidate’s request.
Recruitment Conducted for 19,838 Constable Posts
The selection process involves multiple stages, including a written exam, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), document verification, and preparation of the final merit list. After all stages were completed, the final selection list was prepared based on merit and reservation rules. Soon after the results were announced, candidates began demanding the release of a waiting list, a request that has now been officially rejected by the Board.
How Were Candidates Selected When Marks Were Equal?
One of the biggest concerns raised after the results was by candidates who had scored the same marks as selected candidates but were not included in the final list.
The CSBC explained that pre-defined tie-breaker rules were used while preparing the final merit list.
According to the Board:
If two candidates secured the same marks, the older candidate (based on date of birth) was given preference.
If both candidates had the same marks and the same date of birth, the candidate with higher educational qualifications was ranked higher.
If marks, date of birth, and educational qualifications were all identical, the final ranking was decided based on the English alphabetical order of the candidate’s name as recorded in the Class 10 certificate.
The Board maintained that the entire selection process was carried out transparently and strictly according to these rules.
According to CSBC data, over 16.73 lakh candidates received e-admit cards for the written examination. Based on the written exam results, 99,690 candidates—approximately five candidates per vacancy—were shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Out of the shortlisted candidates 79,932 candidates appeared for the Physical Efficiency Test, and 50,650 candidates qualified in the running event conducted during PET. After physical measurements and document verification, 45,611 candidates were declared eligible for final consideration.
The eligible candidates included:
29,349 male candidates
16,245 female candidates
17 transgender candidates
19,838 Candidates Selected
From the pool of 45,611 eligible candidates, a total of 19,838 candidates were finally selected for appointment as Bihar Police constables based on reservation norms, merit, and the prescribed tie-breaker rules.
Recruitment Process Now Closed
The Central Selection Board has made it clear that the final selection list is conclusive, and the recruitment process has been fully completed.
Since the recruitment rules do not provide for a waiting list, no additional list will be published, and candidates who were not included in the final merit list will not be considered further in this recruitment.
The Board reiterated that the entire recruitment process was conducted fairly, transparently, and in strict compliance with the Bihar Police Constable Recruitment Rules.
