The result of the re-conducted National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is expected to be declared by July 20, a senior official from the National Testing Agency (NTA) told news agency ANI. While the exact date has not been announced, NTA aims to expedite the evaluation process to ensure early publication of results. This way, the academic calendar will proceed as scheduled without any delay, the official added.
“We would not like to give out any date as of now, but the result will be out by July 20. Normally, the results are announced within 45 days of the examination, but this time, as we have conducted the exam in 37 days, we will announce the results much earlier,” a senior NTA official told ANI.
The re-examination was held on June 21 after the original NEET-UG paper scheduled for May 3 was cancelled for over 20 lakh candidates following allegations of a paper leak. The NTA has stated that, although results are typically released within 45 days of the exam, this cycle is expected to be completed faster due to a shorter evaluation timeline.
Over 10,000 Objections Received On Answer Key
The provisional answer key was issued on June 25, with candidates allowed to submit objections until June 28. Approximately 10,000 challenges were received. Each objection is being individually reviewed, with the agency examining supporting documents and providing responses after verification, it stated.
Candidates were required to pay a fee of Rs 200 per question raised, which is refunded if the challenge is found to be valid.
What After Results?
Once results are declared, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will publish the counselling schedule for 15% All India Quota seats as well as admissions to AIIMS, JIPMER, and other central and deemed universities. State authorities will separately conduct counselling for the remaining 85% of seats under their jurisdiction.

Officials have maintained that despite the re-examination process, the academic session for MBBS students will begin on time. However, clarity on the counselling schedule is still awaited, even though counselling typically takes over a month to complete.
