Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS Admission 2026 Begins: Aspiring medical students can apply online through the official Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Portal.

The State of Tamil Nadu has officially begun the admission process for MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2026-27. The registration process has started before the announcement of NEET UG 2026 results, allowing candidates to complete the initial admission formalities in advance. Aspiring medical students can apply online through the official Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Portal.
The admission process will be conducted under various seat categories including 85% State Quota seats for Tamil Nadu candidates; 15% All India Quota seats through MCC counselling; and management/NRI quota seats in private medical colleges.
Tamil Nadu MBBS, BDS Admission: Who Can Apply?
Candidates applying for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admissions 2026 must meet clear NEET UG 2026, the results of which is expected shortly. Candidates must be at least 17 years old on or before December 31, 2026. They must have passed or appeared for Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects.
The minimum qualifying marks for general category is 50% and for reserved categories, it is 40-45%.
Tamil Nadu MBBS, BDS Admission: How To Apply?
Candidates need to follow these steps to complete the registration process:
Step 1 – Visit the official Tamil Nadu medical admission portal.
Step 2 – Register using basic details such as name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.
Step 3 – Complete OTP verification and create login credentials.
Step 4 – Fill in personal, academic, and NEET-related information.
Step 5 – Upload the required documents, including photograph, signature, and certificates.
Pay the application fee.
Step 6 – Submit the completed application form.
Tamil Nadu MBBS, BDS Admission: Documents Required
Applicants must upload the following documents during registration:
– NEET UG 2026 scorecard (after availability)
– Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets
– Nativity or domicile certificate, if applicable
– Community certificate for reserved category candidates
– Valid ID proof
– Passport-size photograph and signature
After the NEET results are out, students will have to upload their scores and the authorities will publish a merit list depending the marks received by the candidates and choices they entered on the application form as well as reservation rules.
The NEET UG counselling is conducted in three rounds, followed by a stray vacancy round. The MCC conducts the counselling process for the following categories of seats:
15% All India Quota (AIQ) MBBS/BDS seats from participating states (excluding J&K unless they contribute seats)
100% MBBS/BDS seats of Banaras Hindu University (BHU)
100% MBBS seats at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
100% seats at JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal
100% seats of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)
85% institutional quota seats of Delhi University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (including VMMC, ABVIMS, and ESIC Dental)
100% Faculty of Dentistry seats at Jamia Millia Islamia, including 5% internal quota for Jamia students
15% IP quota seats in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical colleges
