‘Bhai Yeh Kya Naya Scheme Hai?’: Student Asks CBSE For 6 Grace Marks, Splits The Internet
Every results season, social media fills up with proud parent posts, topper interviews, and emotional celebration videos. And then, there is the other side of the internet, the desperate, hilarious, hail-mary plays by students who find themselves right on the edge of the passing line. And with CBSE being in the eye of the storm recently, every student is now turning to social media to air their grievances, serious or not.
Sarthak Raj, who says he is a CBSE student, made a public appeal for a little academic leniency that has now gone viral. Finding himself agonisingly close to clearing his mathematics paper, Sarthak decided to bypass standard school channels and go straight to the top, tweeting both the Central Board of Secondary Education and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his initial viral tweet, Sarthak pleaded: “Dear CBSE, I am Sarthak Raj . I got 27 in Maths and I need only a 6 marks to pass. Due to personal issues and exam pressure, my performance was affected. Please give grace marks and save my academic year. College counselling has started.”
When the initial plea didn’t instantly result in a changed scorecard, Sarthak doubled down with a second tweet, offering a compromise. He expressed his willingness to sit for the compartment exam, but under one highly specific, universal condition: “Bhai Main compartment dene ke liye taiyar hun but ek condition physics chemistry English painting mein Mera bahut achcha marks aaya bus math mein Rt a gaya hai Unexpected result tha to CBSE please sabko 10 marks Ka grace Kar De.”
“Bhai Yeh Kya Naya Scheme Hai?”: Netizens Weigh In
Naturally, the internet had a lot to say about Sarthak’s unique negotiation tactics. The confusion over basic passing criteria caught a few users off guard, while others laughed at the audacity of bargaining with a national board.
One user, like many others, commented: “Maths not Mathing here 27 pe to pass ho bhai tum
Another user just laughed at the student’s appeal: “Bhai 😂 yeh kya Naya scheme nikla hai kya … Aise toh class test me teacher na de Grace marks…and bro is asking for Grace marks from cbse board 💀…insane mentality”

Oggy Janta Party also entered the chat and wrote “Is this some new way to pass? There was no option like this during my board exam 😭”
While some users leaned into pure, old-school scolding—blaming social media culture for the academic shortfall—others offered practical advice or dark humor about what lies ahead in higher education. One user chided the student for spending time being a content creator: “This distinction is nonsense. Instead of making reels, you should have focussed on studies. If you think they have wrongly checked your paper, please fill revaluation form.”
Another shared the latest update: “CBSE has mentioned in there TOS that if the passing percentage decreases in comparison to the last year they will provide grace marks.”
And many others just gave more real world opinions: “Sorry to hear that Sarthak but I would suggest working hard and giving the compartment exam. They won’t give grace marks.”
