NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in a petition concerning the non-declaration of Class XII results and the issuance of blank marksheets to students in Gulf countries. The matter was raised on behalf of an Indian student residing in Saudi Arabia who allegedly received a marksheet without subject-wise marks despite the declaration of results.The petition was filed on behalf of Pransu Patel by advocates Vineet Jindal and Rajkishore Chaudhary. During the hearing, the Supreme Court sought a response from CBSE and orally directed the board to address the issue and resolve the matter by Friday. The case is scheduled for further hearing on June 12, 2026.Petition raises concerns over blank marksheetsAccording to the petition, the student was issued a marksheet that did not contain subject-wise marks. The plea states that the issue is not limited to a single candidate and that several CBSE private candidates studying in Gulf countries have faced similar difficulties, including non-declaration of results and discrepancies in marksheets.Advocate Vineet Jindal, writing on X, stated, “CBSE Row: Supreme Court issues notice to CBSE, directs resolution of the matter by Friday.” He further noted that the petition concerns students affected by the board’s failure to declare results and the issuance of blank marksheets.Alleged violation of students’ rightsThe petition argues that the issue has serious implications for students whose higher education plans depend on timely and accurate examination results.
